Are Kids getting High off your Air Conditioner?
In talking with a local Boise Resident he warned that he had turned on his air conditioner last spring and it did not work. He had us come out and we found that there was no refrigerant in his system. Drake Mechanical Re-Charged it and then two weeks later it was blowing warm air. What he found was that his step daughter and friends were leaking it out into bags and ?HUFFING? the refrigerant to get high. What could be done to prevent this from happening again?
One, Put a padlock on your back gate to prevent trespassing kids from taking the refrigerant in the middle of the night. Two, have your heating and cooling contractor come out and install theft resistant ?Cop Caps? on the test ports at the condensing unit. Three, please educate your children about the dangers of Refrigerant inhalation. It is deadly and dangerous. It can kill on the first time! Death is not a laughing matter!&...

Do you have older Air Conditioning or heat pump equipment? If you have an older Boise Air Conditioner or Nampa Heat Pump you may want to start keeping something in the back of your mind. As the government continues to change the regulations on refrigerant it continues to change what we can and can not sell. It also highly changes the price of everything. As with the R-12 refrigerant phase out of a few years ago the federal government has also now discontinued the use of R-22 which is in a good majority of our homes and businesses. Not only that but they have banned the manufacturing of R-22 equipment. This being said the cost in just the last few months of the refrigerant alone has tripled.
