Heat pump's can help you save on your utility bills.  Most of the new higher end equipment is two stage which means they can get more heat out of the ambient outdoor air than the old ones.  What does that mean for you?  It means that newer heat pumps are rated for lower temperatures lower than the average temperature in the middle of the winter which in layman's term means your heat pump is still making heat for your home rather than relying on ineficient electric heat strips or gas heat to keep you warm.  It is still of course a good idea to have a backup plan such as a natural gas furnace to compliment your heat pump.  That way when it does get too cold outside for the heat pump to work efficiently the gas or electric furnace can kick in and keep you warm and comfortable all winter.  In the summer the heat pump will work in normal mode and keep your house cool just like a standard Air Conditioning unit.  The heat that a heat pump produces is not as intense as a gas furnace so it will run longer, more efficiently and evenly heat your home and in the end keeping you more comfortable with a faster payback on the equipment. 

What Areas Are A Good Fit For A Heat Pump In Idaho?

If you lived in McCall or Stanley Idaho we probably would not recommend a heat pump for your home or cabin.  However in the Treasure Valley we will highly recommend them anywhere, Boise, Meridian, Eagle to Kuna, Nampa and Caldwell, Marsing or Melba or over to Middleton.  Heat pumps are a great technology so don't cross it off of your possiblities when you are looking into new equipment.
